Death Valley
Lake Tahoe-Tues
Then left going over Donner Pass. We started seeing snow at 3000 ft. We stopped in Truckee for a break. The lady at the minimart the snow was melting fast. A couple of weeks before she had six feet of snow on her roof. Now it was practically gone. We took a trip from Truckee down to North Lake Tahoe. We followed along the Truckee river and I thought for sure we were going down but the water was flowing back toward where we had come. Places to stop by the highway were limited to the areas cleared of snow. We went past the Squaw Valley ski area where they had the Olympic winter games in 1960. Then back to Reno over Mt. Rose highway. It was a clear day but ran into some snow flurries above 8000 ft on Mt. Rose Highway. We stayed overnight in Reno at the Eldorado Hotel. The second floor was continuous with the Silver Legacy and Circus- Circus hotels. We enjoyed the Buffet for Dinner and breakfast the next day.
