Death Valley
Eastern Sierras- Wed.
. We stayed overnight in Reno and then headed south through Carson City. Carson City is a small city to be a state capital. On one street is the Legislature building and the Supreme Court of Nevada. On another street is the back of Legislature and State Museum of Nevada. Gas was $3.79 in Carson City. The cheapest rate on the trip. There were quite a few lakes in this area and runoff water everywhere. We stopped at a county park restrooms for a break and the maintenance workers were replacing a stove in the kitchen of the Senior Center. We stopped for lunch in Bridgeport and the one place that was open was not particularly apetizing. It looked like the ride to Bodie was closed but we were there at 3:30 and Bodie closes at 3.
It was another clear day and nice shots of the snow on East face of Sierras. We took a side trip to Mono Lake and June Lake Loop. We were coming down Sherman Grade as the sun set. We had dinner in Bishop and continued to Lone Pine for overnight.
Sierra Nevada from just South of Bridgeport
