Death Valley
Fillmore Fish Hatchery- Sat.
We started out from Barstow on the Last Day of the trip. We travelled on highway 58 in an area I have never travelled before. We stopped in Mojave for a break and to pickup some sandwiches. We went west on Rosamond Rd. hoping to find Yvonnes friend Sue's Compound in the desert. We reached 170th Avenue and the paved road turned south to the Ca. Poppy Preserve. We have been here on this date for the last four years. The wind was up and very few poppies in evidence. Yvonne said she would rather go to Fort Tejon. So turned around and headed west. We ate our sandwiches at Quail Lake and then on to Fort Tejon. Their was little activity at the Fort and just shot one picture of a broken rail fence. Then headed south toward home. We drove into the Fillmore Fish Hatchery and an abundance of birds. It was the first time I had been here since getting the 70-200mm L Lens with 2x adapter. We shot a bunch of photos of birds. The staff was helpful in dumping a few of the dead fish of the day and the birds cleaned up.
Egrets, Snowy Egrets and Night Herons were the order of the day.
